Man man man, verschrikkelijk.
Studies have shown punishing harder doesn’t help to avoid / lessen this.
Increasing the chance you get stopped ad random and breathalyzed does.
I get stopped every dozen years or so, and I know no one who has been breathalyzed twice in a year.
The solution seems so obvious, and what does the Belgian police do this summer? Test less. So prepare for more of these tragic stories.
I am completely against the death penalty, but as a parent, my first reaction when reading this was to demand a guillotine for this piece of shit…A young life lost. Two parents completely broken. Brothers, sisters, family devastated. And some judge will give this guy a sentence on probation and a suspension of driving licence for 6 months…
I normally don’t get very emotional with these kind of news items but as a parent, skater and a son who goes skating by bike every day, the picture of the skateboard in the night on the curb hit me hard. A young life completely ruined by a selfish asshole. I have no words, only anger and sadness. Don’t do drugs and drive, it’s that simple. When will we learn?
Let’s just enforce zone 30, then this will never happen again.

My condolences to friends and family. This only demonstrates drinking and driving doesn’t go hand in hand.
It should not be called an accident. The killer decided to drive while being under the influence. And it’s the same when a driver decides to use (texting) the phone instead of watching the road ahead.
>They should punish the killing people by driving drunk or under the influence of other drugs harder.
Yes but unfortunately this is not going to prevent this from happening again any less. Nobody is thinking about ‘the potential penalty when killing someone in an accident’ when they decide to drunk drive.
Make it doodslag and confiscate the car for starters.
