Liz Truss vows to ‘unleash British farming’ through deregulation

  1. I’m glad I’m a fucking vegetarian because at least I won’t have to eat chlorinated chicken

    Just chlorinated asparagus

  2. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assuring-standards-in-uk-food-and-farming-after-eu-exit

    >These 2 publications explain how the UK maintains standards in the food and farming sectors. These same standards will be maintained after the UK leaves the EU.

    And Boris, *in parliament*:

    >“not only will we protect animal welfare standards, but we will be able on leaving the EU, as we have, …to increase our animal welfare standards.”

The shocking breaking news, again, that Tories lie.

  3. Horrible idea, Britain is going to get annihilated in a race to the bottom. Having high quality produce would actually be a competitive advantage for us, we should be more like Italy not try to compete with us/Brazil.

  4. Ah yes because that is what has restricted british farming. Truly it’s not the increased difficulties access markets or anything. No no let’s just make it even harder to access the closest immediate market with the most reduced logistical costs.

What does she think is going to happen that somehow by allowing chlorinated chicken we will be able to trade chicken to America; you know the country that produces 99% of the chicken they consume domestically. I can see them lining up now.

Yet again tories showing they know nothing; have no plans and only aim to isolate Britain from the world so they can have their own dictatorship

  5. And this is why, even if you don’t like the way he is running the Labour Party, we need Starmer to win.

Because he might not be as progressive as we want and too risk averse. But he isn’t an absolute idiot or psychotically incompetent like these lot.

  6. ‘Unleashing’ sounds so much better than remove protections for farmers (and consumers) so the agricultural sector can commence the race to the bottom.

  7. Her vow will change once she is indoctrinated into the fold of the WEF / Davos crowd. It goes against their agenda. (see Dutch Farmers etc).

  8. All she’s going to unleash is total misery for British farmers, a massive fall in food and animal welfare standards and dangerous levels of food insecurity for the whole country. This idea is criminal.

  9. Deregulation will be the death knell of British farms, who will rapidly be replaced by American style megafarms and the practices that go with them.

  10. This just means letting massive multinationals take over the entire food supply. Huge downward pressure on animal welfare and environmental standards, farmers and workers getting squeezed and exploited, less choice and shit quality food for us. It’ll be worse for literally everybody and every thing, except the wealthy investor class.
