Puts into perspective how much harm we can do doesn’t it. I’d have thought hill grazing animals would be the epitome of sustainable farming before I read this but even that causes this much damage.
Lovely to see
Most of the UK is that prior photo. Needs to change.
That website is atrocious. Just link the tweet.
I’m genuinely surprised. I’ve been around the Scottish countryside a bunch of times and I thought the before picture was how “The moors” were supposed to look.
This is from the carrifan project, more pictures and info on the website above.
Who is Scottish Glen?
As per the article. By livestock they mean deer.
Seeing alot of non native Spruce in that picture. Wheres the Pinus Sylvestris?
Ditto for the English Lake District.
And bring back some wolves rather than culling deer.
Anyone got just pictures that site was cancer for my phone.
Crazy that the sky was yellow only 23 years ago. I remember it being blue.
I’m sure the before photo hasnt had it’s coloring fucked with.
Clicked on the link but got killed by all the adverts and video from another news story. Jeez news sites like the cancer of the internet.
That’s breathtaking. Can you please do it to the rest of the Britain? It’s so empty, desolate and dead. Including places so many say are so beautiful, like Lakes District.
This needs to happen to Dartmoor
Behind paywall that blocks even the thumbnail image.
Brown pic from the end of winter and a green on from mid summer. I’m not sure that this is a very fair comparison.
Even without the obvious growth in the foreground of the summer pic you couldn’t get too more dissimilar aspects.
I wonder if they haven’t taken a picture of a specific space and the 90% of the rest of the trees are Sitka spruce
Pretty amazing but it will it make up for all the people putting down those horrible fake lawns in their gardens?
All that’s left now is the transform his friends, Scottish John and Scottish Steve
Britain is basically a “green desert” from historic farming where there are massive swathes of useless fields where biodiversity is basically non-existent

One photo taken in winter, the other in summer.
So not surprising they look different.
