I am supposed to be taking a train from Brussels to Cologne at 06:25 this morning, but I just got an email from Deutsche Bahn saying it is cancelled.

There is a [“Find an alternative connection”](https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/dn?E=P&VH=T%24A%3D1%40O%3DBruxelles%20Midi%40L%3D8800004%40a%3D128%40%24A%3D1%40O%3DK%C3%B6ln%20Hbf%40L%3D8000207%40a%3D128%40%24202208030625%24202208030816%24ICE%20%20%2011%24%241%24%24%24%24%24%24&sotRequest=1&REQ0SOTCtxtO=FROM_RECONSTRUCTION_VIA_EXTERNAL_DATA) link in the email, but I can’t see any way to actually change my booking on it.

My question is can I just get on the 11:25 am train with my original Super Sparpreis ticket? Do I need to talk to anyone or get a new ticket issued?

I’m on hold with the Deutsche Bahn helpline at the moment to ask this question – apparently my estimated waiting time is “less than 1 minute”, but that was……quite some time ago, so I’m turning to Reddit instead.

  1. If your train got cancelled you can use any other train without replacing the ticket. It might be helpful to have the mail with the cancellation with you. If you take the next possible train and arrive more than 1 hour late you can also get a compensation of at least 25% of the ticket price.
