  1. I will be amazed if we get through this winter without large-scale riots. There is only so much that people will take and “banning” strikes and protests isn’t going to make much difference once we get to the point where full-time workers can’t heat their homes or feed their kids.

  2. And all the Tories want people to concentrate on and cheer for is the culture war of erasing trans people from society.

We could be finding ways to bring energy bills down or funding energy projects for energy security but no all the Tories want to do is remove equalities law and remove any mention of women’s sexual or reproductive health.

  3. There are a lot of factors contributing this, not all of which we can control and many are affecting countries across the world too. As with the 2008 financial crisis, it will be how our government chooses to respond that will how well we come out of this compared to other countries. We went with austerity last time and living standards are still not back to pre-2008 levels, going down that route again would be a disaster for the average person. An economic model that relies on people to buy goods and services will fail if enough people cannot do that. So what are the Tories going to do here? The sad answer is that they will almost certainly do nothing.

  4. DO IT! FUCKING GO AND RIOT ON THE FUCKING STREETS! If I was still in England I’d be right there making my discontent known.
And as I am EU citizen that would have been my only way, as I was not allowed to vote on national issues, like Brexit (even though I had lived in UK for 10 fucking years when they shit happened). And then this fuel price increase came, and it caused such bad anxiety and depression for me that I was getting suicidal ideation, so I got a job in Switzerland and left 3ngland, after over 15 years.

Fuck the Tories for ruining the country that was my home for so long.

  5. I wonder how long it will be before we see the usual demonising of the disabled and the unemployed, highlighting every scrounger in existence in order to phuk over the most vulnerable people in society, again?

  6. People will starve. Kids will freeze. Crime will increase. There will be no protest, however- the UK will simply have trends of a developing country. You’ll see it as roads are fixed less, power outages become a norm… We were once the sick man of Europe, it’ll resume… As people become angry, too, we will elect greedy populists who’ll worsen the issue…
