The police, drawn in the middle of the night in a sensitive district of Limoges, were targeted by numerous mortar fire and projectiles. The intense battle lasted more than four hours.

Firefighters and police were lured into an ambush before being violently attacked by around thirty individuals, in Limoges, on the night of Monday to Tuesday, Le Figaro learned from a police source on Tuesday August 2. They were notably targeted by mortar fire, molotov cocktails and cobblestone throwing in the “sensitive” Val de l’Aurence district, we are told.

Around 11 p.m., firefighters were called to put out a car fire. On the spot, they are attacked by several dozen hooded individuals. Police officers are then dispatched to the scene before being in turn targeted. “ It was a real ambush, the aggressors obviously wanted to fight it out”, indicates a well-informed source, who evokes a “ well-prepared ambush ”. At the heart of the ambush, the police use their defense bullet launcher (LBD) and tear gas canisters.

A car occupied by three young women, “visibly under the influence”, we are told, was also driven towards the police officers, before being stopped in the middle of the race by LBD shots breaking the windows and causing the driver to flee. Several vehicles were set on fire, then extinguished by residents with garden hoses, as the firefighters were unable to intervene.

The fierce battle lasted more than 4 hours, from 11 p.m. to around 3:30 a.m. No injuries are to be deplored, and nobody has yet been arrested. An investigation based on CCTV images is underway, and a military police company has been dispatched to secure the neighborhood, which displays an increase in violence.

  2. You really have to be the lowest of the low to attack firefighters. I hope the police cracks down and makes an example out of the perpetrators.

  3. I’m doing my studies in Limoges and live quite close to that area lol. People often say it’s a bad neighborhood but for me, coming from Eastern Europe, I’d say it looks(looked) pretty clean and safe. Sure, there are people doing nothing all day and just waste time and drink…but still.

Limoges it’s a very (very) calm city, probably some dumb ass young people took advantage of this and became crazy, seeing as in that area there are the social housings.
