I don’t know why they are telling us about this, they should just make a donation to the Tory party and they’ll open the tax payer cheque book for you.
Nationalise it?
No problem. What sort of deal can you do me my extortionate bills if I help out?
I’m with Bulb and find those tentacles, grasping at money, very disturbing.
Will I have 8-16 tentacles on my wallet rather than just 1?
So reading beyond the headline, it seems like the main issue is that unless someone buys Bulb, it’s going to fold and that means people with Bulb no longer get power. Octopus seems to be the only person who wants to, but doesn’t have the money so they’re asking the government for upfront cash in exchange for a profit sharing agreement that sees them pay them back the money over a number of years.
Honestly doesn’t seem like a bad thing to me.
a billion?
it’d be cheaper for bulb to be nationalised tbh.
I may be downvoted here, but I trust octopus. They are the only company that came on to the scene promoting renewable energy. They are now investing a lot into developing houses that will be climate resilient which the mainstream companies are not. I would like to think they’re not Tory aligned due to the sole reason most Tories seem to hate environmental and climate change policy, but I can never be 100%.
This (kinda) makes me happy as we are with Bulb just now and I’d like to switch to Octopus.
Although I am not totally sure if we (the taxpayer) should fund the transition.
Wouldn’t it be easier to cut out octopus and nationalise bulb?
Socialised losses, privatised profits
Tbf Octopus are the best energy company in the business, glad they’re getting a bigger market share. Easy to control, transparent, and pay you at times for using off-peak electricity.
Keep the profits and socialise the losses
I’m with bulb and would be happy with Octopus taking over. Better deal than getting forced onto the likes of EDF or eon. I’d also be happy with nationalisation. I think major infrastructure should be owned by the country, not private corps and that includes rail and bus too. So much cheaper for everyone
