Could it be that the various cabinets have been employing almost non-existent, self-contradicting communication strategies since day one; have enacted a series of completely ineffective measures; and that our media have been sowing FUD all this time? It doesn’t help that they’re so uncritical, tabloidesque and overly politicised that, the second they said [“Trust the news professionals [instead of the fake news peddlers]”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr0Nsrz7W3s), everybody erupted into laughter!
Anybody with a modicum of sentience would hardly trust the Italian government and media under normal circumstances, let alone during a world pandemic they were very obviously not prepared to handle…
It’s not just “anti-vaxxers”, “fascists” and “the Russians”. The blame falls equally on virology superstars who said anything and the opposite of everything on live TV, media personalities who couldn’t tell their arsethole from their own mouths, a criminally negligent government and sometimes even more careless local administrations.
What was it again… [“Milan will not stop”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr0Nsrz7W3s), or something like that? The leader of the PD doing COVID aperitifs before lockdown? The governor of Lombardy making a pretty penny off medical supplies? Just tell me – how could you possibly *trust* these authority figures? And why is everybody surprised to hear that people, in fact, don’t?
The time for winning them over has ended. Time to lock them up and throw away the keys.
Is Italy struggling any more than the rest of us? While outreach seems to work in some immigrant communities, in the general population it seems to me like people don’t change their mind. You where either always eager to get vaccinated or remain unwilling no matter what authorities tell you.
I mean it basically could apply for most countries anyway
I mean, like the article says, our vaccination rate is 20% higher than the european average, including some western europan countries. Unfortunately there will always be a minority that will refuse to get the vaccine but this applies to every country.
Also, writing that Rome and Milan are exploding in protests… Rome is a 3 millions people city, you can find 4-5000 morons to protest for literally everything.
Ireland is 95% vaccinated, why are unvaccinated people even a problem anymore?
>Despite having one of the best vaccination rates in Europe, Italy is still struggling to convince a small section of the population to get the jab.
These lines, as written in the article, would have been a better title of the article itself.
Salvini & Five Star dumbified a lot of people, same way Trump exposed/created hordes of idiots
It’s not only Italy. It’s half of the planet.
define anti vaxxer?
against all vaccines or just the covid vax?
Because there are idiots with nutjob conspiracy theories everywhere?
Because reminding people that there’s a f_cking pandemic is seen as terrorism now…

I have no idea.
