There was a package delivery for me at my apartment today. I was home all day and was waiting for it. Somehow, the delivery guy didn’t ring the bell and gave it to my neighbor. As soon as I got notified on Amazon. I went straight to the neighbor and asked for the package. He asked for a moment. As I was waiting for him in front of the door, I could hear him cutting cardboard (cardboard makes specific sound). I got a bit suspicious. So I waited right outside and was listening to it. He took about 13 minutes, then he opened the door and gave me the package. He told me to be careful since the package was a bit damaged. I thanked him and everything. I looked closely.the box was still taped but open on one side. What should I do? I just moved to Germany and completely new to the apartment as well. Here is the pic https://ibb.co/BL40Bzq

  1. Maybe he did opened it to see if it’s his package. If not and something is missing call the Polizei Police.
Try to tell the Police what happened. Show them your delivery verification from Amazon. Sounds strange to me.

  2. you contact the seller and return your order. whenever you see that neighbour took any other parcel of yours, contact the seller and complain. do not accept the parcel from your neighbor.

  3. If you want to avoid this in the future, have your packages shipped to a Packstation. You should have plenty of them in Berlin. Only works when shipped with DHL though

  4. Delivery services aka DHL usually have an option to leave your package at a specific place. You can ask them to leave it in front of a door, for example. Amazon has such an option as well, but last time I checked the number of such “places” was limited.

    Alternative: packstation (also for amazon).

  5. If this happens again tell him not to take your package and to leave it on stairs. I live in a building with 5 other apartments and we would sign for the package and leave on stairs. Also my last two packages were left on stairs and driver even took a picture of it so i got notification of them. Not sure if you can ask for that or not.

  6. Here is some update. I had a live chat with Amazon. I told them everything and also said I wasn’t sure if it was the delivery process or the neighbour. They decided to send me another package or I could ask for a refund. I told them the item itself was fine. And I don’t think it was the delivery guy’s fault. They insisted on giving me another package. So I’ll be getting that. Also, I asked them to make sure that any items in the future will be delivered directly to me and never leave it to the neighbour. The Amazon customer support was extremely amazing and all that was very quick. I’m very impressed.

  7. Just tell Amazon you didn’t receive it. They’ll ask for your signature, you send them a copy, they either give you a refund or send you the box again.

  8. >So I waited right outside and was listening to it. He took about 13 minutes, then he opened the door and gave me the package.

So you stood outside for 13 minutes? I would have lost my patience after three (at the latest) and called for him or rung the door bell again…

I mean, every neighbour I have ever picked up a package from keeps the packages they accepted for neighbours by the door. At worst they might need a minute to dig through the pile and figure out which one is mine if they accepted packages for multiple neighbours. But 13 minutes out of sight…. that’s just super weird. And rude. Did he really expect you to wait there for almost a quarter of an hour? I can only repeat myself, that’s super weird…. no idea what I should think about that. But I would definitely be suspicious of that neighbour from now on. The whole thing is just creepy and I really can’t think of a good explanation for it.

  9. I would confront the neighbor or never order something to your door again.

If you order something expensive, your neighbor will take it next time

  10. once I opened my neighbor package by mistake. My husband received it and didn’t told me. I was waiting something for me as well.. so I just saw a box and open it (assuming it was mine.. husband was in a call so I couldn’t ask). Silly excited me.. I didn’t read the label. But obviously once I saw it wasn’t why I ordered I stopped the opening process and realized I made a mistake.

  11. Sorry but you ordering 6 Pepsis from Amazon is what’s wrong with capitalism and 1st world countries.

Also, if you say you have health issues don’t even drink that shit.
