Threw together a map of the Irish Travel Advice for anyone who’s curious

  1. I’ve been to United States and to be honest, it should have a DO NOT TRAVEL notice on it. Mass shootings, can’t hitch hike, drug epidemic, police are militarized, etc.

  3. Have proudly been to a good few of those orange and red countries.

Wonder what the classification system is based upon. Like Russia is red but they havent been kidnapping any Irish citizens as far as Im aware. I mean you could still go there and be perfectly safe once you keep your mouth shut on politics. Iran is the same, Irish citizens would have no problems there.

I wonder as well whats going on in Mongolia that they are labelled orange. I havent heard of any upheaval so maybe the DFA are just lumping them in with the Chinese? Proud Mongolians wont like that.

  4. What’s wrong with French Guiana

    id love to go there

but there doesn’t seem a valid reason for a travel caution ?

  5. I would in my shite ever go to some of those places in green.
Ill never go to South Africa or certain countries in South America like Brazil.
India is suppose to safe but I wouldn’t go there for sanitary reasons.

  6. Some of these places had more local advisory warnings about each country but this is a high level map of just the categories

  7. What even goes on in Western Sahara? I’m sure they’re a great bunch of lads.. right?

  8. Interesting that North Korea 🇰🇵 is only orange but I have looked into travelling to North Korea before and it’s actually not as hard to travel there as you might think. You have to book with one of a handful of recognised travel companies such as[young pioneers](https://www.youngpioneertours.com/) they have a full itinerary planned, book all your hotels and internal transport and food, you essentially only have to book flights to China and they do the rest! Also as long as you listen to your tour operator and don’t do anything dumb like steal state propaganda posters you won’t have any trouble. Also Irish citizens aren’t that valuable as bargaining chips in international relations. Now don’t get me wrong it’s definitely more risky than most other countries as there is no Irish embassy in NK but in terms of safety there is virtually zero crime in the country and you’re always with a guide so that element of risk is very low. You will get the standard propaganda tour and won’t be shown anything they don’t want you to see so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of going, there are plenty of YouTube videos documenting what this tour involves and they’re all very similar so you know what you’re paying for and can set your expectations.

If anyone has ever visited DPRK 🇰🇵 I’d love to hear your experience as an Irish citizen.

  9. I’ve been to Algeria a fair few times, I wouldn’t consider it unsafe at all, albeit I had relations living there who babied me essentially, considering my horrid Arabic
