He’s not wrong, but Schröder has never been not disgusting. If you want to know who Schröder is working for, always follow the money, he is utterly corrupt, and has been for a long time.
Schröder became German Chancellor for his incredible skill of not being Helmut Kohl, the previous chancellor and gold standard for corruption in German politics. He did one-up his predecessor in both the dismantling of the German social safety net and in corruption. (he got paid for doing so) That he is advancing Putin’s interests is no coincidence, it’s just because he got bought, Putin is one of the richest people on this planet after all.

We know, we hate him too! In Germany there is universal hate against after-chancellorship Schröder. The merits of his chancellorship itself are much more debated.

The article itself doesn’t go into it, but what is disgusting is that Schröder did not just relay Russia’s demands for ceasefire or peace to us (that alone shouldn’t be a problem IMHO – any diplomat would do the same thing), but that he essentially agreed with the Russian part line of Ukraine having to make territorial concessions to achieve this.
