Simply relying on the Tories messing up (which they have been) wont be enough at the next election.
“Offers Nothing”
Taxing financial dividends and landlords so that money that working people have made isn’t just making someone rich and takes the tax burden off of working people
Restructuring the tax system making fairer for small businesses and taking more money off of the online giants so that businesses can compete and offer fair wages. An actual windfall tax that takes money off of energy companies and back in peoples pockets
Scrapping charity status for private schools and putting Vat on the school fees to help children at state schools catch up.
Providing a mental health service that is fit for purpose so that people can get help when they need it, including school children who faced trauma through the pandemic.
Investing in a green economy to provide jobs and industries for the future and bringing those jobs to deprived areas to help level them up.
Nationalise rail to balance public transport for commuters helping them keep more money in their pockets.
Fast tracking rape and domestic violence cases so women and girls see justice done for violence perpetrated against them.
And thats 2 years from a general election
Edit: Also worth pointing out that the Labour Party have been working with unions to create an employment green paper that is aimed at giving workers more rights and to provide the best working conditions seen in this country.

A change in government isn’t going to bring any huge change to the lives of people in the short term and he knows it. If labour win the next election it won’t be by a huge landslide and quite likely it will be a coalition. There’s been 12 years of policy written by lobbyists and industry that will take honestly decades of legal wrangling to work against/around/with and the whole time all that money will be pushing the public against the people wanting the best for the country.
There are no “bold ideas” that’ll get us out of this mess and the last thing we need is a charismatic populist. There are hard times coming, I believe we need boring realists who genuinely care about people.
Labour has a very good opportunity to win the next GE with Truss or Sunak in charge. Yet the far left/Corbyn FC supporters are messing it up.

I don’t know what they else they want? Continue with this shit government for another 5 years.
He offers an alternative to the Tories and that’s all that I want in the medium term.
Nothing that actually offers a change in the status quo is going to be allowed I’m afraid, the complete media assassination if Corbyn prove that.
Starmer is nothing more than a Labour supporting Tory of the Bliar variety. Labour needs a hard left, needs to support striking workers, and front bench MPs should be on picket lines. If Labour is nothing more than a Tory wannabe party then it should be disbanded.
When was the last sensible labour leader?
Next week on ‘Hand-wringing Corbynites Online’ we look at why the Chairman Mao cap and elbow patches are so misunderstood by the British public. See you then.
I think he’s offered a few things tbh, what is with this intentional ignorance?
We are fucked because the far left are petty, spiteful little children who refuse to agree to help make this country one step at a time.
It’s their way or no way at all. Pathetic.
It’s kind of funny that the red tories are blaming the left wing for labour not winning, when it’s been proven that the right wing lost labour the 2017 election. Somehow it’s always the lefts fault for voters not being exited for Tory lite policies.
A Starmer government would simply be keeping the seats warm until the Tories can get themselves back on track. Then it’ll be back to business as usual further eroding living standards and democracy.
The Tories are out
Starmer is I admit a hopeless leader of Labour. That said, Corbyn made Labour unelectable. Labour voters were driven to vote Tory during his tenure. After that Starmer must seem like the new Messiah.
What labour need is a centre left offering or it will effect nothing. Kier Starmer offers that. Unfortunately the far left communist socialist types will call him a Tory and claim that he offers nothing etc and enable more years of far right Tory leadership.
Hahahahahahahaha…but they had a fit when there was leader who thought about making the ‘Many’ better off at the expense of the ‘Few’. The Guardian guards nothing except middle class exceptionalism…
Corbyn’s vision was meaningless as he couldn’t win an election. Starmer is trying to win an election which involves stealing voters from the Tories which means changing policy to attract a broader set of voters.
Win the election first. Ideological purity doesn’t reduce inequality.
Here we go, tye guardian has been shitting on the tories for a while but now labour is ahead they start their attack and brainwashing, they did exactly that in 2019 too.
When Blair took Labour to victory he said to the party do you want to win the election or stick to your values. What he was point out that country had changed and labours left policy had keep them out of power from 1979 until he took charge. The country was not one domainated by the 70% of the working classes. The coal mines had gone and office jobs replaced them. The middle class determined the elections and they are in the centre of policy.
Starmer needs to win the election by being close to the centre of policy. He does not need big idea or plans. He does not need to try and turn the worlds on its head. Dont be bold, dont over promise, dont scare large business to death with tax plans or vast spending. He will walk the election.
It really does annoy me how some would much rather see labour being right in opposition than actually do something.
Isn’t ‘not the conservatives’ all they need as a slogan?
