  2. Everyone is granted bail in Malta no matter how vicious they are. As long as you’ve got some sweet money for the government everything goes.

  6. The same thing happened to me in Malta 10 years ago. The police got back to me 7 months after reporting it. It’s good to know that immediate action was taken this time, however letting him out on bail is literally just giving permission for more people to do such things – clearly the consequences aren’t that great. Not to mention what a slap in the face it is for the victim who despite trying to speak up about the situation, was told that it wasn’t really a big of a deal and now has to get the same bus, knowing that he might be there again.

  7. Yeah, well, it’s disgusting, repulsive, and makes you wonder where his limit is. However… Calling for deportation, really? And if he was Maltese? 10+ years jail?
    How about people speeding? Domestic violence? These do, or have the potential to do, much greater, long-lasting damage to individuals and society.
    While disgusting, I think the right approach would be a fine as punishment and mandatory therapy. Not prison or deportation, so granting bail seems somehow ok to me.

    Edit: not that I care about the downvotes, but are you actually mostly in favor of just sending this guy back to his home country, untreated, so he can go on a public masturbation spree there? At least you won’t have to read about it on ToM then, I guess.

Something similar happened to me years ago on the ferry .. not on me thank fuck but near me and wanted me to watch but I looked away.. at least he opened the door afterwards and let me get out because it could have gone worse. I was young and didn’t know you could or should report it. I still see him sometimes .. I hope he doesn’t remember me. But these things are not as rare as you imagine.

  12. I don’t know what’s worse, the fact nobody on that packed bus tried to stop the guy/alert the driver to the situation or a female judge giving the guy bail.

    After pleading guilty from the offset he should be punished as a sex offender. Nobody should ever have to go through something like this poor woman did
