Parking chaos at Snowdonia beauty spot could be eased by cutting down trees to extend car park

  1. It’s been decades since I have been to Snowdonia so I don’t know the current situation, but I’d be curious about what other ways exist to access these kinds of beauty spots or trailheads.

It seems like a good park and ride system could solve a lot of these problems without impacting on the beauty of the area. Unfortunately, public transport to these kinds of areas always seems incredibly limited, meaning that cars are often the only viable option.

  2. Screw it I am going back to winter climbing and walking.

Poor trees. Hope they will replace each one they fell

  3. When a national park operator opposes wind turbines in their eyeline and wants to cut down trees to facilitate car parking, they should probably consider fucking off.

  4. That surely won’t entice more people to drive to Snowdonia to take advantage of the increased car infrastructure making the entire endeavor less than pointless.

  5. for god sake..

Better idea turn the car park into a bus station.

Maybe add a branch line to the nearest mainline for good measure.

  6. So make a beauty spot more accessible by making it less beautiful?

How about investing in better public transport? Discourage the car use and provide alternatives, don’t enable it.

  7. The mountain is too high too they really should cut it down so it’s more manageable.

Fucking daft ideas some people come up with. Take some fucking responsibility and if the car park is full go somewhere else. Bellends.

  8. So… they’re going to concrete over a beauty spot, so people can park and see the beauty spot (that they paved over)?

    Genius! /s

  9. Perhaps they should close that car park and operate a park and ride from a better location.

Cutting down trees to allow cars at nature spot seems more than counter productive.

  10. Isn’t there a mountain or something round there?

Flatten that and there would be plenty of room for trees and cars. Everybody wins!

  11. The question has to be, do you want people to enjoy the outdoors and the countryside or don’t you.

The fact of the matter is that people are going to drive to these beauty spots, it’s not feasible to connect all of the parts of Snowdonia to the cities via rail or other means.

Just because our population grows, doesn’t mean the number of mountains also will (duh!) so the infrastructure around making the accessible must also increase – this includes car parks.
