  1. None of these really surprised except Albania. But I assume most of these people are from the Albanian minority, so I guess that makes sense after all.

  2. Belgium imported a lot of Italians to work in the mines in Limburg and Walloon region. A lot of Moroccan people too.
I’m kinda suprised that Italians seemingly are still most represented because Italian migration slowly decrease as Italian economy picked up. Opposed to Morocan migration wich kept going on for atleast 20years longer.

  3. That map is pretty old.

Finland is 3rd in Sweden now, passed by Syria and Iraq.

Since Swedish immigration is a hot topic on this sub, the top ten foreign birth countries in 2019 (what’s on the wiki, newer data probably available at SCB) was:

    1. Syria
    2. Iraq
    3. Finland
    4. Poland
    5. Iran
    6. Somalia
    7. Yugoslavia
    8. Bosnia
    9. Afghanistan
    10. Turkey

  4. Quite sure it’s Slovaks in Czechia because of language proximity. There are many Ukrainian workers but not as many as Slovaks who study here, work here, work as prime ministers…

  5. I don’t understand how this outdated low quality map gets upvoted every other week. Syrians surpassed Finnish people as the largest immigrant group in Sweden around 2015(?), so the map is at least 6 years old (probably more). Denmark is incorrect, Portugal is incorrect, UK is incorrect, Turkey is incorrect etc. It wouldn’t be particularly difficult to make an updated version.

Also, why use white letters on a white background?

  6. I think it’s a secret Ukrainian plan to take many Russians hostage as soon as Russia decides to invade Ukraine.

  7. Why do so many turks come to the Netherlands? Does anyone know?

Edit: Hate that I have to clarify, but it’s just a question. I just want to know. No hard feelings towards turks.

  8. I’m missing a definition of immigration as used in the context of this map. Are you just talking about actual immigrants or are 2nd, 3rd and subsequent generations included?
