I’m not so sure if that would be a good idea. Isn’t that only a cut into the own flesh, without any harm to the Russian economy?
What a shame.
Not very surprising results to be honest. If they did a poll now with questions like:
>“should the statue of the Russian Tsar be removed from Helsinki?”
>”should Ballet stop performing Tschaikovsky?”
>”Should Dostoyevsky’s books be moved to storage in libraries?”
… majority would definitely say “yes”. The amount of panic is unbelievable.
Just continue issuing the visas, but increase the prices by X euros and clearly state that the extra amount will be donated to Ukraine charity. Russia needs all the money they can get, it’s beneficial to us if tourists come and spend money here.
Hateful decision. Why punish all the people for musguided goverment. Escalating bad relations hardly leads to good outcomes.

As always I was not asked and never was asked about anything So Im not sure how trustworthy these percentages are
For the Putin shills in this thread: It may come as a surprise for you, but you can’t just buy *everything* in the world with money. For some of us it sucks that our tourism industry is hit, but we will find a way to turn this around (thankfully we are not too dependent on it). But most importantly, you can’t just buy our dignity, so you can just take your dirty money and take your business elsewhere.
I assume the majority visiting Finland have relatives in Finland. The real high rollers likely travel of business passports, but I’m not a Finn… i just lurk
It doesn’t matter anyway to me, i have russian passport so I’m fine ig
Majority of russians support the war. Not only that, they accept the war crimes. Likely they do not know the details, but russians know what russians are like, not a single person there can say they fight clean.
All this applies even if they are misinformed about the reasons for the war.
A lot of these people are visiting relatives. Not just in Finland but in the other countries in the EU, cos the only options are fly through Turkey directly from Russia (which is so expensive right now only the richest can afford it) and for people with less money it’s get to Vantaa airport and fly for something resembling normal prices.
If they separated the visas to visit family from tourism I’d think fair enough, as such… tourism is not a necessity, seeing family is.

That is surprisingly low imo.
