School bullies to face jail under law approved by French MPs

  1. Bullying is a very general term, which means this situation could open itself to miscarriages of justice. It’s hard to tell much about this without more details, but it doesn’t sound great on its face.

I think the wording alone signals that this was a move done out of incompetence and for political points, then again this is a British rag so for all I know they mistranslated and summarized with a bias.

You could imagine better ways to tackle this that don’t involve the threat of punishing minors for something that is ultimately human and inescapable – that is, what we call bullying, extended a bit in meaning can be made to describe universal human behaviour that is simply unavoidable.

  2. I’m not sure that’s going to work very well as a deterrent, because we’re talking about kids here and they are not known to be wise…

  3. Yea that sounds pretty dumb, how exactly do you define bullying. Now everyone and their mother can sue someone for not beeing nice to them

  4. Bullying/bullies are a part of life, depends how extreme and well defined this is. What’s the difference between a bully, a social dull kid, a rude teacher and an abusive parent? Seems like these French MPs are catering to a certain crowd instead of passing meaningful legislation.
