  1. >The three men are charged with offences contrary to the Communications Act 2003, Section 127 (1) which relates to “improper use of a public electronic communications network”. The nature of the messages is alleged to be “grossly offensive”.

    Not this law again…

They sound like proper cunts, but I’m only in favour of this being prosecuted, if someone knows it’s likely to cause gross offense to a direct recipient and intends to cause such offense.

  2. These days you can’t even have a laugh and a joke with a killer, it’s PC gone mad.

The weird troglodytes are here to defend them through.

  3. What’s the world coming to when on duty police officers can’t have a little joke about rape with a fella who’s nickname was “The Rapist.” It’s woke this I tell you. And left wing.

    Listen to yourselves man.

  4. Sick. Horrific people like that had the power to arrest. I really hope he was exaggerating about that 15 year old girl and didn’t actually harm anyone.

Whatever your opinion on the prosecution, they deserve to lose their jobs. And their work histories need to be investigated to see if they’ve assaulted someone in the past or mishandled cases.

  5. Does anyone else find it troubling that these men are being charged with crimes because they made inappropriate jokes and comments to one another, in private, with everyone’s consent?

Here the state is policing private conservations between individuals where there was no offence intended or taken by anyone involved. That’s scary to me.

  6. It’s always bewildered me when you get a group of guys making rape jokes, and when confronted about it, they’ll insist it’s just banter and no one’s hurt by it – because no one in the group actually intends anything like that, no sir.

But if you’re laughing with your mate about how smacking women around and sexually assaulting them is funny…exactly how do you know for sure that he’s saying it in jest?

That you’re actually not validating someone in their idea that viewing women that way is perfectly normal? After all, all the other guys think so. It’s just those frigid feminazis making a fuss.

  7. There’s already a number of posts decrying government overreach on this one. Do I worry about cases potentially setting dangerous precedents? Absolutely. But this isn’t one of them, and reading the article is all one needs to do to understand that.

An active officer joked with other active officers about pinning down a 15-year-old in detention, referring to the act as a “struggle snuggle”. You’re fucking right that he should be locked up.

This is one instance where real people and real events were involved. I’m not a gambler, but the likelihood of there being more would be bloody well odds-on in my book.

  8. One for all & all for one. That’s how a lot of them work, to give each other false statements on there behalf. The police & government have lowered the quality of what makes a police officer. There too many joining the police for the wrong reasons, ie joining just for the power it gives then, which has lowered the quality. Policing also mean arresting a fellow officer if you know he/she has broke the law, policing doesn’t mean you should lie to protect a fellow police officer if they brake the law, which undermines the principle’s of being a police officer.

  9. Jail the rapist. Fire the others. I’m a lefty but if it’s private speech not directed as hate yowards a person then how can we punish that legally? We have to fight hate speech and incitement of hate crimes without dismantling freedom of expression. Have you ever played cards against humanity with a group of mates?

  10. From insitituonalsied racism, to absurd levels of sexism and misogyny, to an (ex) Commissioner compromising national security to enable a clown of a PM.

The UK Police really are not fit for purpose

  11. Just another day in the Met Police. I’m not even surprised by things like this anymore, it’s expected of them now…..
