  1. So you can just cut someones leg off, pay 2.7k and be on your way in Austria.

    Understandable, have a nice day.

  2. > The court awarded €5,000 in damages plus interest to the widow of the patient, who died before the case came to court.

what was the cause of death?

    > The surgeon said there had been a flaw in the chain of control in the operating theatre.

it seems like a command error instead of surgeon.

  3. In the US, even if the patient then died from an unrelated cause after the surgery, this is a mid six figure settlement at the very least.

  4. If I crash a car in Austria, while driving like a retard and person in other car loses a leg, will I also just get just a relatively small fine?

  5. When a friend had an eye removed (totally non-functional and causing issues) they drew a huge circle around it, with arrows even though it was very obvious that it was the bad eye (looked like a skin blister). He also reported that they discussed which eye was to be removed while he was sitting on the table, had each of the main players point to the eye and he had to verbally confirm (more than a yes, agree in his own words).

It seemed silly and overblown at the time, now, not so much.

  6. Is he still allowed to work as a surgeon?

“She has since moved to another clinic” fucking fantastic. Now someone else gets this unknown surgeon to possibly cut their leg off.
