It doesn’t help that the energy companies now want you to build up a substantial credit on your account.
I don’t see why I have to end up 500 or even a thousand pounds in credit by the winter. If you want to do it this way, then allow the customers to build up a debit during the winter and pay it off in the summer.
Everyone should check their Direct Debits and adjust accordingly.
Yeah but did you see it when liz truss looked shocked and there was a big crash.
I love this guy man. Went from “if you have a penny jar then you might have £40 at Christmas to buy a nice bottle of wine” to “THE GOVERNMENT MUST FALL THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE SHALL BE REALISED GENERAL STRIKE NOW CHANGE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM TO THE INTERNATIONALE”
It’s the kind of heartwarming shit I can really get behind
It’s sad but he can shout this all day for months and those who have the power to change this will still ignore him because the energy companies’ donations to the party mean more than the wellbeing of the public. The Tories have no reason to do this beyond greed and Tory voters will be hit just as indiscriminately as voters for any other party. Sadly, until Tory voters realise this, nothing is going to change and the coming winter will lead to some very interesting headlines and possibly some civil action.
Hey, come on, Shell made £10bn in profits this last quarter, so it’s not all bad news! Who else is going to put their shareholders kids through university and buy them their first houses so they can get on the ladder?
People are going to die due to the energy cost crisis.
Poor people, especially pensioners, are going to choose to use less energy in order to avoid overspending, and it is going to kill some of them.
Definitely should be our next prime minister, has more sense than them all put together.he understands both sides and will openly broadcast when us British also have to suck it up whilst knowing how to solve the issues going forward.
Can someone explain what the hell is up with standing charges going up. Even if I lock up my house and go sit in the park I’m paying through the nose. That shit ain’t fair.
If Martin Lewis made a sign ‘energy strike now!’ and stood outside Downing St gates. It would happen straight away.
I like the way he was pretty much the happest fucker your ever see on TV, and allways so positive.
now his whole show is pretty much asking if your on benefits yet, and if your not then he gos on to tell you why you should be on benefits haha
Forgive me if I’m being ignorant or stupid, economics is not my strong suit, but surely the government could step in and essentially subsidise energy bills so we all pay less and the government pays for some of it? Then it gets paid back once prices fall eg through a tax increase or a tax on the company profit etc – some way that could be repaid over a longer period once the cost of living crisis is over? Is this a stupid idea tbat wouldn’t work or just something this government would never go for?
Government giving people money against bills is going to make this all worse. Why is this money being borrowed, and therefore we’ll be paying interest on it forever, while the utility companies still get to cream it with their bumper profits. Fucking joke
As if the energy companies and the government actually give a shit about its citizens.
Just pay your taxes and shut the fuck up!

Calculate your average yearly use by totalling last year’s usage. If your energy company phone you and tell you they’re putting your DD up give them last years figures and tell them to base it off current prices. When they say the price is going up, tell them your usage will be significantly lower this year but you understand, add a tenner on for that increase.
You now have an accurate monthly figure. Do not pay monthly. You wait until its December, your boilers gone, your washer has packed up and you’re paying 380 quid from the month before and now you don’t have any money to fix anything and you have no ability to wash your clothes, self, no heating no hot water…
