  1. Given to The Queen Mother by Margaret Helen Anderson, she was the daughter of William McEwan (1827–1913), a brewery multimillionaire, later elected as an M.P. (Member of Parliament) for Edinburgh Central; and his mistress, Helen Anderson (1835/1836–1906), a cook, who was married to William Anderson, a porter at McEwan’s brewery in Edinburgh.

  2. Its not really of value; it won’t be sold even if the monarchy piss off into the sunset. It is a national asset. You cant eat it, burn it or do anything useful with it. But it is of historical value and a work of art. Same for all trimmings of the elite and wealthy. They are no more than mere baubles in the real world, when the going gets tough.
