Archie Battersbee’s parents take case to the UN

  1. So, they were denied permission to take this to the UN on Wednesday, then were told by the Supreme Court on Thursday that Wednesdays ruling was valid and stood, & are now… taking this to the UN? Uhhwhatnow?

Meanwhile, the hospital has every legal and moral right to end the 17+ medical interventions in place – & under which the condition of the body is continuing to degrade rapidly – to bring this to a close. They’ve harassed and slandered the staff left and right – both directly and also by stirring up hate mobs on social media – and they have the audacity now to ask the same hospital and the same staff they’ve been abusing for months to wait, just so the mother can continue with this macabre charade?

It’s crazy. Someone needs to cut the power already.

The injuction has been issued while the UN looks into the case. All the evidence they need is in the court documents, but they’re quite the slog; I expect they’ll have made a decision before the end of the day.

[e] As others are helpfully pointing out (please drop them an upvote), despite how it’s being reported the UN has / can only request a delay while it looks into the situation. It’s not an injunction.

Relevant text from the BBC article:

    >In a letter, the chief of the UN’s Human Rights Treaties Branch, Ibrahim Salama, said it had “requested the state party (the government) to refrain from withdrawing life-preserving medical treatment, including mechanical ventilation and artificial nutrition and hydration, from the alleged victim while the case is under consideration by the committee”.
    >
    >”This request does not imply that any decision has been reached on the substance of the matter under consideration,”

  2. Such a tragic case but the line of

    > Archie has never regained consciousness and his mother believes he may have been taking place in an online challenge.

Makes me laugh everytime. Only goes to show how clueless and deluded she was/is.

  3. When are they deploying the peacekeepers to Essex, and will the no-fly zone affect London air traffic?

  4. The Christian Legal Centre once again proving that they are just disgusting hypocrites as they play god to continue the torture of a brain dead child.

  5. what the fucking fuck

like the only people who are going to get shit on however this ends are the hospital staff who’ve been demonized by ghouls because of (once) understandable delusions. fucking hell, it’s not like they’re *not* getting shafted by the gov anyway
