Russian comedian Maxim Galkin speaks Latvian. What do you think?

  1. Good, one more prominent person to use as an example and to shame Russians living here for decades, refusing to speak Latvian, with. If a busy celebrity can do it, what’s the excuse for some random Dmitry living in Daugavpils? At least I know some folks who freely admit that they fucked up going to Russian schools as kids and not asking their parents to be transferred, though even then I don’t have too much respect for them as they’re adults now and can absolutely start learning and could’ve started at any point during their lives.

  2. Love this. He is a comedian who has lived his whole life in Russia but he took a jab n Latvian at people who have lived their whole life in Latvia and don’t speak Latvian.

While not entirely the same situation, it does remind me of one year when the Latvian Ice Hockey team played Russia. I remember there were pre-game interviews (for our TV I’m pretty sure) with the coaches. And it was such a unique situation – Russia’s assistant coach Harijs Vītoliņš was talking in Latvian, while Latvia’s head coach Leonīds Berešņevs was talking in Russian.
