Mick Lynch calls for a general strike if Liz Truss becomes PM and cracks down harder on unions

  1. This should happen regardless, the workers up and down the country are being shafted and the Tories do not care even the slightest bit, theyd rather you were struggling they just wish youd be a bit more quieter about it.

  2. I know it won’t happen because we’re not allowed to have a left wing candidate, but I’d vote for Mick Lunch for PM, just to watch home destroy the opposition at PMQs.

  3. We should have a general strike and call it the General Lockdown. Same rules as COVID lockdown, nobody goes to work, we all stay home but no WFH. They can do a daily chart of how much salaries are proposed to rise based on the days negotiations, we can all watch the the daily charts again, but this time lockdown doesn’t end until the chart experiences exponential growth.

  4. I did work out a whole ago that about 25% of the workforce are self employed, freelancers, or work through limited companies. They won’t be striking.

  5. I propose a general doss as apposed to a strike. We turn up for work but we’re completely fucking useless.

  6. This is a way to get Liz Truss more votes in the Tory members’ vote, isn’t it? I can only assume Lynch thinks Truss would be easier to take down as PM than Sunak.

Any union boss who says “I hate Liz Truss” is going to increase support for Truss amongst Tory Party members.

  7. I heard about the German appraoch to strikes last night. I like it. Instead of not working, people still do the work, but stop charging for it.

In terms of the trains, this means free train tickets all day. Packed trains that the operator is getting £0 for. And since they’re still employed and still doing the work, the workers still have a right to be paid. So it simply costs an absolute bomb in lost revenue for the employer, but the customer is not only not inconvenienced, but has something to *smile* about.

  8. The way Sunak and Truss both gleefully shouted “Yes!” When asked if they’d ban strike action sums it up for me. The only part of the debate where they both showed enthusiasm.

  9. What are the arguments against a general strike from the general publics point of view? Apart from inconvenience.

Think I remember an finance friend of mine saying he agrees with it in principle but its usually the private sector that has to pay for it.

    Just trying to understand.
