Youghal hotel awarded €12m contract to accommodate Ukrainian refugees

  1. Good to see they’ve somewhere to stay during the crises in their country.

    *edit*

As I always say to the downvoters, don’t be shy, use your words.

  2. These refugee stories are getting more bizarre daily. Now planning on putting them on Islands off the west coast. Could probably stuff 30-40 into the Fastnet for the winter? Looks like a serious cash cow for Hoteliers also.

  3. Apparently this is going to cause Youghal to lose the Ironman contract they have until 2024. Hosting an Official Ironman race is estimated to be worth €13million to the local economy every year it is held. This kind of thing for a quick buck is baffling.

  4. People of the area not happy I heard.

Going to cost their local economy a fortune.

The Ukrainians get jobseekers but in a hotel they get everything paid for so don’t actually get to spend the money locally. Obviously they’d prefer to be at home but I’m just saying.
