President reiterates condemnation of war against Ukraine – but does not address letter controversy

  1. The statement made on the President’s behalf includes words that arguably repeat the substance of the dodgy letter in condensed form. “President Higgins has stressed the importance of using every available ‘chink of diplomacy’.“ The statement therefore does not deny or recant the most objectionable parts of the letter’s message, and it continues to assert a foreign policy message distinct from that of the Irish Government. It aggravates the constitutional problem initially caused by the President’s office endorsing the letter, by associating its message more directly with the person of the President.

  2. Dialogue is better than war. The government and especially Fianna Fail lose their shit because they’re still fuming that the president correctly called their housing policies a ‘disaster’.

  3. What’s so bad about what she wrote? Would it not make perfect sense for both countries to agree to end the bloodshed..? That, or putin’s death, are the only way this will end in fairness..

  4. I’m sorry but the fuck does he mean he declines to comment?

The man is answerable to the people who elected him and an explanation is due. I don’t want to answer isn’t acceptable in this case.

  5. Very interesting contrast here between Twitter/Journal mob – it’s all “what’s wrong with peace?” / “de absolute neck on you to criticise Sabina”.

Absolute delusions of Sabina/Michael D to think they have a right to pontificate on what’s best for Ukraine
