Isn’t this a bit sexist in such a modern thinking country like Finland?

  1. Let’s erase all writings, speeches, books, movies that are somewhat old fashioned or sexist, burn the books fuck yeah!

  2. I don’t know man, it’s just a poem.

Like other languages gender everything, and just in normal speak; at least this is a poem.

The more I overthink it the more I think the author wanted to bone a ship.

  3. What is sexist here? I understand that the text in itself can be sexist, and I’m not arguing of that, but imo nothing in the fact that the text is shown in public is sexist. It’s a product of it’s time and shouldn’t get cancelled. Otherwise we could not learn of the mistakes of our past individually. I see this the same reason we are being taught of the nazis and communists in schools.

Reflecting on our own pasts and our people’s histories is as modern as thinking can get. Cancelling our past and the voices that don’t fit sounds more like we didn’t learn anything from our past, and is in itself enough of a reason to keep these texts of “wrong” opinions visible in public.

  4. I’d say ‘get a life’ and clearly it is a past/old text. Harmless in itself, a product of the past. Move on.

Ships are still called she in languages that have a she.

There are things that are sexist & deserve attention, rather than labelling everything found sexist. Same with racism.

It dilutes attention from real, deserving issues.

  5. Jesus Christ. Yes, we’re very modern and advanced, we burned all the old fashioned poems in the Great Bonfire of Equality back in 2015. All praise intersectionality, amen.

I have no idea how that’s still there, what an abomination.

  6. Yeah outdated, sexist and stupid. And embarrassing. Not surprised however that this post seems to be a honeypot for anti-woke keyboard warriors, hah.

  7. Goodness, get it together! It’s an old sailor poem. It’s historical. Yes, I’m a woman, and I am pro-human rights. But this is a SHIP and this is a historic text! Taking it down will not spare any woman from being beaten up. The only thing it’ll do is making this ship yet another boring object. Let the sailors believe it has a soul, okay?

  8. You have too much free time and too little problems in your life clearly. Haw can you assholes get offended by an old poem on a boat? You must really have a lot of issues with ducks raping each other to make babies

  9. Hanging around the local maritime industry will expose you to much more sexism than you would think likely in this day and age. I’d say that yes, it’s very sexist, but not even close to the most sexist thing I’ve encountered on a boat 😂

  10. Cancel culture, SWJs and this stupid woke mentality is just pure toxic and it’s so sad they don’t even make sense.

Post it on 10 other subs too so more people learn how stupid this logic is…

PS: Did you know also blast furnaces has a tradition of being named after woman. Because traditionally they represent productivity (or giving birth). It is a tradition and no I have no idea if anyone ever wrote a poem to a blast furnace.

  11. Not everything is sexist….. it’s a poem. Jesus people are so sensitive and need to whine about anything. 😅😅 kinda sad that we need to make everything look and sound bad. Who looks at this and thinks omg I need to complain about sexism

  12. This is just grotesk

Finnish doesn’t have gendered words or pronouns and in finnish ships are called ”that” or ”it”. This clearly (thank God) has nothing to do with Finland or the finnish language
