U.S., NATO fully committed to Ukraine, says Blinken ahead of Lavrov talks

  1. “Fully committed” in what way? To express an official protest when Russian tanks roll into Kiev? A stern fingershake, perhaps?

  2. >Kuleba tweeted that Ukraine, which is not a NATO member but seeks closer ties with the Atlantic alliance, was working with Western countries on a “comprehensive deterrence package including severe economic sanctions” to stop Russian aggression.

It’s not like the US has any obligation to protect Ukraine, but stating that the response for Russian aggression will be, at worst, economic sanctions doesn’t seem very reassuring.

  3. If this support does not translate into letting Ukrainian army attack the separatist republics, so be it.

  4. Fully committed to give Russia a “harsh warning”, and to express strong concerns about Russia’s ambitions and impact on Ukraine’s independence. Ladies and gents, Russia can probably take all of Ukraine and Moldova and NATO would still not act in any significant way…mutual assured destruction will ensure that.
