Hi, Latvian here. I was just wondering how good was Lauris Reiniks’ Lithuanian in this song? Did he have a noticeable accent?

1. Noticeable, but not in a bad way. Kind of exactly how my accent is since I’m American, but studied there as a kid for a number of years and am fluent. Still, people almost automatically can identify me as American because of the accent and I would have guessed he was as well.

2. My friends from the Lithuanian seaside should take some speaking lessons from this guy, haha.

   When he is speaking in the intro, you can clearly hear an accent, but when he is singing, it’s quite perfect. If I did not know he is Latvian, I’d assume he was from some village further from Kaunas or Vilnius region, and that’s it.

3. Generally accent is quite ok, could be taken as one of Lithuanian dialects. Except several details in pronounciation (especially soft endings of some words) that gives him up as a non native speaker.

4. almost perfect tbh, i couldnt tell if he is latvian in a blind test.
