Several months back I made a post for a translation project in relation to a book I am writing. The book pertains to the Bulgarian Army in the First World War. Earlier this year, I managed to purchase a large collection of unpublished postcards from what appears to be a single officer or army unit. I’d like to have the writing on the postcards translated, so as to possibly have a story to piece together for the book. For context, I am an American, and while I can read and write the Cyrillic alphabet in script, I am by no means proficient in Bulgarian.
If you’d like to assist with translation, you can use this google form: [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfDgNon4Dwt4YCaO-FtUvellGMecIbN3qMlvvdK37sudZt4rg/viewform](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfDgNon4Dwt4YCaO-FtUvellGMecIbN3qMlvvdK37sudZt4rg/viewform). The majority of the cards are in cursive script, which adds to complication of me working on them, as I’d be happy to use Google Translate or something similar, but the handwriting I cannot understand.
If you know anyone who’d be interested in assisting, please feel free to share this with them! Thank you for reading and please do leave your name or psuedonym on the form should you help with a translation. I plan to have a section in the book crediting all those who assisted. Best Regards!
Nathan
Interesting pictures. I’d love to help, but cursive from that period is too hard for me.
Why not just hire a professional translator?
By my understanding, this is a commercial project. And this smells like you’re looking for free labor.
