Rising production costs lead to 4.4% rise in UK shop prices

  1. And somehow the rising cost of keeping ourselves alive does not amount to a rise in the cost of our labour.

Literal humans are treated as more of a commodity than a tub of butter.

  2. If you’ve been even semi conscious in a shop recently you know it’s gone up by much more than that!

  3. Isn’t it great how everyone gets to raise their prices while our wages stay exactly the same because somehow only our wages rising would wreck havoc on the economy apparently. Not the corporate greed that is killing us.

  4. Don’t you plebs dare ask for more money, how are we going to have record profits if you selfish toads demand ‘fair’ pay?

Shut up and pull yourself up by those bootstraps.

  5. And the small things that were 80p but are now £3, that’s about 4%. Kitchen rolls that were a little bit expensive are now £8.50. That’s about 4%. (I have started using cloths but if they turn out to be £9 now I will use my bare hands or possibly badgers)

  6. Which will see sales fall until wages go up. Companies must realise this is not going to get better when people have less spending power every week. You cannot read reports of record food bank usage or people worrying about using the heating at winter and think your company will be immune to all that. The working class are the ones propping up the economy and it will be a harsh fall when they cannot do it anymore due to the sheer greed exhibited by the rich.

  7. Let me modify this headline to reflect reality.

“Company shareholders who demand endless growth won’t accept less profit lead to 4.4% rise in UK shop prices”.
