TotalEnergies gaat afvalwater van Antwerpenaren gebruiken: jaarlijks 9 miljard liter drinkwater uitgespaard

  1. Met andere woorden: Total gebruikt al jaren 9 miljard drinkwater per jaar, en doet nu de goed nieuws show, alsof ze plots groen zijn!

  2. I make wastewater in Antwerp. Does this mean I get a discount on my electricity bill? They should have to pay me for my creation.

  3. Most of those companies get all their utilities for peanuts.

They fill up 500 L tanks with drinkable water to use as counterweight.

    Anyway, don’t spray your lawn.

  4. If you have no clue how things work you should not be commenting on them 🙂 Yes most industrials use drinking water, because there was no viable alternative available. Drinking water was cheap and abundant. But everybody in the industry realised this was not sustainable. However using brackish water from the docks, you need to filter twice, once to desalinate, and then filter. Which is from an energy point of use, worse vs drinking water. With the port now building a plant for cooling water, all the industrials will look to connect to it. But it is a whole lot more expensive. ( i am an energy trader for one of the companies that will hook up to it 🙂

  6. OK, I’m not a scientist, but… They say they use up to 10 billion liters of potable water per year, mainly for cooling. Let’s be generous, and say that they actually use 8 billion liters per year purely for cooling purposes.

Their main site is on Linkeroever. Right next to the Schelde. What’s wrong with that water? Why can’t they pump up water from the river, and use that for cooling?

I’m not trying to be a smartass, I’m genuinly confused. Why does the water for *cooling* need to be purified?
