This is completely unsustainable. Thousands are going to die over winter.
I really worry for this country.
This is what we need to be hammering home, this is what Labour should be concentrating and showing the country because there are many people who are going to lose loved ones this winter because of this Tory party not giving a fuck.
So that will mean that it will have ‘doubled’ what, 5 – 6 times in one year? Meanwhile, these companies will continue to post profits that mysteriously also increase at roughly the same rate?
I can see the ‘Don’t Pay UK’ movement gaining a lot of support very soon.
BFY Group, a utilities consultancy, said households could see energy bills of £500 for the month of January alone.
I’m hoping that’s hyperbolic or how much it’s rising by because £500 a month is fucking insanity. That’s simply not feasible.
That’s what ? Not far off half the minimum wage for the month ? Just on energy.
And none you dare ask for a pay raise, you sick freaks!!!
What the fuck. How is that affordable for anyone at all. I guess the wealthy have got solar, heat pumps and all the best insulation, so this will of course hit the poor the hardest again.
Opinions on NMW increases?
I would of (normally) thought it would be untenable for the government to have a policy which results in the typical NMW earner living in fuel poverty (10% of income spent on energy).
When it’s feared it’s going to hit 30% then surely drastic action is warranted?
Will the government leave people to struggle or will they announce a raise in the NMW to return people to a somewhat livable wage.
I ask because it seems like the government has a decision on their hands to protect people’s standard of living through policies such as the NMW (where a painful 20% increase may be warranted) or to leave people to struggle and living standards in the UK fall significantly.
Should stop supporting the war against Russia in Ukraine. Because that is playing a big factor in this. That alongside the fact that our gas storage levels are crap and we’re selling a lot of energy to mainland Europe.
now I know how Hitler felt when his gas bill came, no wonder he killed himself
Is it possible to just opt out of the service entirely? No standing charge, no connection.
Ah yes, the good old ‘energy price cap’ which isn’t really a cap in any way other than by name.
A ‘cap’ which is set to have seen household energy prices increase by £2500 in one year.
wait till we move to Mars, there really will be people like Vilos Cohaagen in charge of who gets oxygen.
Remember when that super dangerous terrorist sympathiser corbyn said we should nationalise power and that heat and power was a human rite?? Fuck that guy amirite!!
Meanwhile Centrica announces bumper profits and dividends for the shareholders. Rejoice at that news…
