> The Loop discovered the ninja turtle-shaped tablets on sale at the event in Huntingdon had 2.5 times the typical amount of ecstasy in them.
I’m a little confused… isn’t it normally in the dealers interests to water down the actual amount of drug present in what they’re selling (cutting it with other things), rather than provide even more of it?
If only there was some sort of way to regulate and test drugs so that people could do them safely
Should just legalise, tax and regulate.
It won’t stop all of this sort of thing, but it would reduce it to the level of running into counterfeit ciggies and booze.
It’s there if you want it, but when you can buy the bonafide stuff easily, most people aren’t going to deal with some dodgy Glens or L&B.
Would make it much easier to track, treat, and the profits could be ploughed into rehab, treatment centres for problem users.
Maybe one day we will get sensible drug laws that draw on evidence, research and best practice
Always test your pills before you take them and check pill report forums for any extra insight.
The Ninjas were always strong if I remember correctly, taking a whole one is a mental idea.
People are stupid and take the entire pill at once. Take a quarter wait two hours then decide if you require more.
We really need to legalise, tax and regulate drugs while at the same time educating people about and gently discouraging their use.
We can then use the money to provide care for those suffering with addiction instead of ostracising and imprisoning them.
Also as a side effect, it will choke the life out of the current black market that fuels criminal enterprises and gang violence that plague poorer neighbourhoods and cut short the lives of thousands of people up and down the country every year and that also disproportionally effects minority communities.
The powers that be know this full well but also know that taking a stance such as “hard on drugs and gang culture” is a cheap and easy way to gain votes without ever actually having to do anything. Looking at you Priti Patel.
Are we a democracy that cares about human dignity and quality of life and that makes decisions guided by logic and rationale or are we not? If we’re not, maybe we fucking should be, Priti Patel… maybe we should be
A slight aside – the problem with popping pills is that you don’t know what’s in them. Now weed, no problem – especially home grown. You know exactly what’s in there, and the love and nurture you put into your smoke (or edible). Just legalise personal weed growing ffs. A limit of 6 plants or a licence required. Good for businesses too, as there are all the soils, containers, fertilizers and grow paraphernalia to sell to a bigger market. I also find that once people start to grow a little weed they also get interested in ‘gardening’ for vegetables too…
The govt and the police call them ‘controlled substances”.
Who controls them? Who controls the quality, the strength, the price, the availability, the distribution, the finance?
What exactly do the govt and the police ‘control’? Rhetorical question, they don’t control anything.
In the Netherlands you can anonymously get drugs tested for free or a couple of euros, regardless of the legality of the drug you’re sending in. We’re too right wing here to implement something like that but interesting what is possible when you prioritise people’s safety.
I’ve heard of people dying from fentanyl overdoses when they bought Xanax pills. They weren’t even buying anything strong, its weaker than valium which people get from the doctor. Not that anyone should be dying from contaminated drugs but it’s not even like they thought they were getting heroin, they thought they were getting a mild relaxant
Not sure if they have this here yet but in New Zealand there is a charity that set up a booth at festivals, they test your drugs for you and if they find substances that shouldn’t be in it (which happens quite often) they take it off you, if it’s clean they return them to you.
I know many will disagree with that but people are going to take drugs regardless, might as well make sure they are as safe as possible to take.
Congrats to us ignoring all reports supporting drug policy change and instead allowing a black market of “legal highs” to thrive for so long. Now, where we once knew what we were taking, god knows what these drugs have mixed in with them. Cheers, Blair!
The real imposters are the BBC and the government who pretend to do their jobs whilst outsourcing all responsibility to criminals.
One of the many reasons the war on drugs had failed
Good job our government does everything it can to ensure drug analysis charities like The Loop are forced to operate in a very legally questionable grey area where they aren’t just outright prevented from offering their services.
>Guy says it’s difficult as “aggressive searches on the gate to prevent substances getting in” can result in people “consuming all of their stash in the queue”.
Well… no they’re not. People do that in queues for gigs/nightclubs, but not for 4 day long festivals.
I’ve been to that festival, I was searched, I had tons of drugs on me, they couldn’t find them because I’m good at hiding them.
Honestly we need to legalise and regulate cannabis/MDMA/psychedelics and decriminalise the rest.
