As some of you already know, it’s again the time of the year when repulsive ticks are booming, especially during the second-third week of August. If you are bitten by a tick and wonder whether it could be an endemic one that could transmit disease (FSME), please check this cartographic map developped by RKI (specifically for people living in South Germany).

This does not mean that the virus or the bacterium Borreliose is transmitted instantly, so beware that it’s highly recommended to remove the tick in the first 12 hours. My personal recommendation is to purchase “tick lasso pen” (simply Amazon) which is extremely easy to use without the possibility of leaving the head inside your skin.

When I was first bitten by a tick in Germany, I actually overreacted and panicked but looks like tick removing became a summer tradition for me at this point. No disease so far 🙂

Also, do not forget to get vaccinated for the next year.
