I just looked up the numbers in general, and saw that the male suicide rate is almost 3 times higher, and we’re close to if not the highest in Europe overall 🙁
Oh god, any ideas why is it so? I mean belgium is high compared to neighboring countries, what’s the cause? Same for nordic countries
And these were the 2019 numbers… Yikes

23 per 100.000 suicides for men in Belgium in 2019.
But men don’t matter of course…
Mental health is still a heavy subject for Belgium, especially gor men.
What a sad thing to be in first place in.
For like the 100th time in this sub, statistics people: Belgium reports suicide quite quickly. Other countries don’t always investigate “suspicious” deaths. And in plenty of countries it goes even further, because the family doesn’t want it reported.
Not to completely negate it, but be also glad that Belgium is so transparent on this.

What’s the point of giving the stat for only one gender without comparing it to the other?
oooofff, I recently moved to Norway. Dodged a bullet there!
I was talking with friends about it. The last 5 years there have been at least 2 people per year that i know that have committed suicide.
