  1. This is the second MP to be violently attacked in last 5 years afaik. Jo Cox was the previous one. She was stabbed to death by a Brexiter. I hope this guy recovers.

  2. For those wondering, a constituency surgery is a one-on-one meeting with a constituent in their office.

  3. Well fuck me sideways… Comments on reddit (both here and else) are now endorsing stabbings of elected politicians. *For the greater good*, of course.

  4. you know something is wrong with your democracy when every couple of years an elected official gets stabbed and or killed

  5. I don’t care what your political views are, political assassination is always a a terrible crime and it undermines our democracy even further than it already is. Not to mention everybody has family and friends who are not to blame for any of that person’s actions, and whoever killed Sir David has irrevocably hurt these people too.

I’m glad to see they appear to have arrested whoever did this, fingers crossed they’ve got the right guy and he gets punished fairly for this horrible crime. Premeditated murder is never acceptable, even if you’re killing a Tory!

  6. I grew up in Southend and he has been a big part of the town for many years, this is very very sad news.

  7. The far-left in this country has gone unchecked for way too long. Anybody could see something like this was brewing. Media and certain politicians have blood on their hands

  8. the murderer is only 25 years old. he’s gonna spend a long time in prison.

update: now he’s being investigated for terrorism because he’s a Muslim. he’s never going to see the day again because he’s going to be put into a hole so deep and they are going to throw away the key.

  9. Now being treated as a terrorist incident and to be taken over by the Counter Terrorist team. Given the MP’s party, his stance on Brexit and the fact he was a member of the ERG my guess it was a nutjob millenial remainer like we see on UK subs and in here from time to time looks like being bang on.

  10. Sickening act of violence against a well-respected member of parliament and father. Who are these people that go around stabbing people they don’t like?

The guy that did this should be locked up with the key thrown away.

  11. After reading a lot of British comments on r/unitedkingdom, r/worldnews, I come to the conclusion that there are a lot of vile and disgusting British people on Reddit.
