Calls For Emergency Help As Energy Price Cap Expected To Soar To £3,244

  1. Although these are sensible suggestions, why doesn’t any of them talk about current pricing model? In no other industry a company set their base cost on the highest wholesale price irrespective of the actual price paid. Change that and the consumers start actually benefit from the cheap energy produced (e.g. where are the cost savings from the cheap wind energy?)

So far I’ve seen only one proposal suggesting this and it was reported only once in a couple of news publications.

  2. Annoyed with this constant £3000 or £3200 number being used. It’s just an “average, assumed” value. And you’re always overcharged each month vs actual usage. So energy companies have more cash flow each month, as that’s a priority for most businesses.

The cap doesn’t mean YOUR BILL will go to over 3 grand a year.

You still only pay what you use.

  3. Disgusting! I now eat once a day and have to be careful with what I use. Will probably freeze to death in the winter now. Dreading it. I have zero hope for this country.

  4. Gonna be a whole spate of cases involving stolen electric supply in the incoming year I reckon. Quite easy to do I’ve been told.

I wonder how many desperate people will go that far to keep the heating on this winter and beyond?

  5. With so many people affected, helping everyone is going to be impossible and many will suffer as people work out who to help first. It will become a lottery, one where no one really wins but so many lose.

  6. There needs to be a well informed documentary on terrestrial television explaining the total break down of why this increase is so huge. We can’t just pay it without knowing the true facts and figures.
I’m guessing they won’t make one as we would kick off and say no we won’t pay that much extra.

  7. No, not emergency help. No more spending taxpayer money to solve the obvious problem. Do what France did and cap fuel price increases to 4%. The fuel companies need to find a way to sort it we should not be using roundabout ways to give multi billion one off subsidies to these fuel companies.

  8. Can someone explain why it keeps getting called a “price cap” if it caps fuck all? Keeps getting raised every few months with zero explanation…gas hasn’t suddenly become four times rarer so what the fuck is going on apart from blatant price gouging.
