Please forgive me for not speaking Flemish to communicate with you better. I’m interested in an update in this story about the subway pusher, but there hasn’t been one in English that I can find. I want to know why he did it. I understand he must be crazy, but he must have some crazy motivation. What did he have to say about why he did it? Did he hear demons in his head? Was it god? Did he want to know what it feels like to murder someone? The news story has been stuck in my head for unhealthy period, and I must know what the attacker had to say about it. Does anybody know?

No worries, we mostly communicate in English here as well. As for the article, I can’t find a concrete follow-up. They didn’t find a link between the pusher and the victim during the investigation shortly after the incident. Pusher would be examined by a psychologist, but further no info.
The judiciary procedure is still running, so no information is being released for now. Until the moment the Public Ministry will inevitably get him in front of a judge and a court date is set, we won’t get news most likely.
The French man from Nancy who did this was referred to as “Benjamin P.” in the media. He was supposedly known for theft/narcotics use in his native France.
The wheels of Belgian justice turn just as slowly as in the US (maybe slower) so I doubt much has happened to him yet.

He claims not to remember a thing, he was heavily drugged and
now he is shocked by what he has done, acc. to his lawyer. So I guess we’ll never know what he was thinking.
“Did he hear demons in his head? Was it god?”, yes you clearly are American. Reality is, he was and or is psychotic. No religion needed.
