Interesting article. Pointing out the reality that Ireland is so tied in with the U.K., USA and I suppose to some extent the EU that it’s arguably not really a neutral country.
Not to mention that being neutral actually means a thing. If Russia wanted to attack Ireland it’s not going to go ‘oh wait no we won’t do, they’re neutral’.
Neutrality only works if you also have a big enough stick (Switzerland).
I am baffled at how a country can be content with not being able to defend itself to essentially any extent. Ireland cannot defend its airspace or its national waters from pretty much anything.
