  1. The guy really referred to maximum good will when talking about rule of law…

Should tell you all you need to know.

  2. > He sees the issue as part of a broader conspiracy aimed at subverting Poland and accused the Commission of trying “to break Poland and force it into full submission to Germany.”
    >
    > “We do not fit into German-Russian plans to rule Europe,” he warned. “An independent, economically, socially and militarily strong Poland is an obstacle for them.”

What a very cool and normal thing to say. Surely no problems could arise from this kind of rhetoric further down the line.

  3. > “Since the European Commission is not fulfilling its obligations to Poland in this area, we have no reason to fulfill our obligations to the European Union,” Kaczyński said.

But what the EU wants is for poland to fulfill its obligations to its citizens lol

The polish government is pretty lucky there is a war in ukraine where they can collect easy PR points.

  4. If not for Orban and Hungary, Poland would be the country with the worst reputation in the EU. And it’s all completely self inflicted!

  5. Yes, the infamous German-Russian plans to rule Europe by invading Ukraine and then pushing one member of this axis into financial ruin because of it… /s

  6. The last death throes of these fuckers before next year elections. Might be mine wishful thinking, but despise current situation in Ukraine their polls are lowest in years, and economy isn’t recovering fast enough for them to throw social benefits in enough quantities. Can’t see them winning without rigging elections.

  7. Elections coming up in Poland soon and trying to blame the EU on all sort of things when they end up losing part of their subsidies and this will impact people living their negatively?

At least that is how i see it, the problem is this is going to be spinned into something else in Poland and Hungary again. More about immigrants and religion again and no word about what is being done to certain structures or laws that make the country less democratic.

In reality i think they are super pissed about the subsidy money and how the EU is planning to get rid of both nations blocking each other sanctions. I guess they figured they could endlessly take money, break the promises they made when joining the EU and everyone would just sit idly by.

  8. PiS should consider applying for US membership. Maybe with some Einstein-Rosen bridge we could relocate the country between Alabama and Mississipi. Then there would be a sea between Western Europe and Russia, Poland would be very very far from Russia and Germany, lots of new Trump voters for the GOP. It seems like everyone would be happy.

  9. Some politician from PIS said today that by “turning cannons” the current gov means vetoing any climate oriented initiatives and since the money that is being blocked was mainly to be used for energy transformation if Poland won’t get the funds unblocked then Poland will not have to meet the co2 emission goals or banning combustion engine cars. And if they win the next elections they will swap the prime minister and go with “harder stance” on the EU.
