In order to escape the oppressing real estate price for the non wealthy, is it allowed for one to live in a [van](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53_CwfdBBpg) or at a treehouse or safely camping in the woods or mountains. Or order something like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVV6CyGJgZo) like Elon Musk or [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NT1eiNDung) ?

  1. I knew someone doing it here for a while with kids and wife. I guess is doable for a short period of time.

    Some communes prohibit caravans parking along the road and camping is pretty much out prohibited outside campings.

    Instead of buying a studio flat, just buy a Rolls Royce and rent a parking spot. You will still be miserable in a tiny space BUT it has massage seats, air conditioning, electric windows, etc. Can’t say the same about a 1970s studio /J

    Edit: and you can’t run away from your creditors in your studio

  3. Most forrest are private and you cannot stay there. There are a few campings that are open all or most of the year, but you cannot be registered there with you official address as a resident. You may find someone willing to let you park your van on their land, but again, not an address and as for the mountains, what mountains?

  4. I did look at ads for several nice cabins in the woods, all were “not for permanent living” or whatever the formulation was. One was really lovely.

  6. I thought about this as well, either you go for small cabins with the label “not for primary residence”. Put your address with a friend in the city. The problem is that it will still cost you a lot. Didnt really see any cheap ones, ex. less than 100 K.

    Ask the municipality for the rules of usage, maybe you can purchase a tiny house on a trailer and leave it permanent. Or maybe you buy a VW California or something. You would still need the address with a friend. But 50 K for the land, 50 K for the portable home should give you a good start. Then I would use the land to do a garden, rainwater collection, outdoor shower, outdoor kitchen, restore the little cabin etc. Better than paying 1.000.000 EUR for a studio.

  7. Just my 2 cents here:

    for a little workaround, what you could do is go to the P+R Kokelscheuer and simply ‘park’ there for a long time.
    It’s free for 24H, so technically, the only thing you need to do is drive out once a day and back in with a new ticket. Other than that, I think you’re good. Also, you’re close to a small lake, some play areas for children, a nice walk through the forest and an ice skating hall.

    Besides, I have more than often seen caravans or RV’s parked there for extended periods, so I don’t think it’s illegal as long as you don’t cause any harm to the environment or something like that.

  8. As soon as I have enough money for a house outside of lux. I’ll leave lux. Not going to spend 40 years worth of work for a house.

  9. There are grottoes in mullertal where you can sleep, they’re rainproof and not too far from civilization.
    An other tipp is to get a gym membership so yopu can stay there all day
