Daily Telegraph – Boris Johnson tells friend: I don’t want to resign and will stay on if Tory members back me

  1. How exactly would this work? The tory party have picked the two candidates and he isnt one of them. When the members go to vote even if a majority of them write in Boris Johnson they’ll just be recorded as spoiled. The PM leads by consent of parliament and he wont have that consent, Sunak or Truss will.

  2. Actual WWE-tier politics. Amazing. I will not rest until I see Truss put Sunak through a table.

  3. I mean, looking at it from the view of an outsider, this would be hilarious.

Only it’s for the top government job. What a shitshow.

  4. Jeezus cereal, what is it with ex PMs, get off the stage already, you’re performance was lacking integrity and forthrightness, how stupid or desperate do you need to be told fuck off already, let someone else put there shoes over top of your tarnished footsteps.

  5. This is quite a dramatic headline for something that’s quite obvious when you think about it.

There’s been talk in the Conservative party of adding his name to the ballot. If the Conservative party change their rules to allow that to happen, he wins the vote, and enough MPs back him to win a confidence motion, then of course he’ll stay on. Why wouldn’t he?

It’s only his position as Conservative leader that’s under threat – losing the office of PM stems from the likelihood of ceasing to be Conservative leader – him continuing as such is little more unusual than Corbyn staying on after he won the leadership election after the confidence motion among MPs in 2016.

  6. Lol, called it. There’s something wrong with this man. I don’t think he’ll be able to stay as pm, but he definitely doesn’t want to go and will try his luck.

  7. It’s a bit late at this point no? You can’t give your employer notice you’re leaving then half way through be like nah I’ve changed my mind.

  8. I think it is clear the Tory membership still want him. The biggest applause last night was when Sunak praised Johnson.

This is the problem of party membership Vs MPs. Of course Labour know only too well what happens if you let a loony near the ballot.

  9. Just when you think the rollercoaster is finally slowing down. You see BoJo’s face with that mad lad look in his eyes about to send you on a free second spin on the loops.
