[Fazer milkcholate](https://www.fazer.fi/tuotteet-ja-asiakaspalvelu/1701/karl-fazer-maitosuklaa-200-g/) is probably what every Finn would recommend as a gift, there are also many different flavors.
If you are feeling adventurous you could buy some Salmiakki or [Vihreät kuulat](https://www.fazer.fi/tuotteet-ja-asiakaspalvelu/1504/fazer-vihreita-kuulia-500g-marmeladeja/)
Moomin shop in Lasipalatsi and/or Forum shopping center, if She is at all interested in moomin-related stuff. (Moomin is a finnish Cartoon/movie character if you don’t know).
Especially the moonin coffee mugs are quite valuable and have good collectors value, but are reasonably cheap to buy new.
Or some Fazer chocolate as u/PI2RAD suggested.
Stockmann center in the middle of the city is an easy option for gifts buying, and has a nice variety of brands from Finnish glassware to sweets.
Clothes anyway: Nanso pyjamas
orthex bucket 🙂
Brunberg / Fazer chocolates
Cosmetics by Lumene or Erisan
Finnish coffee, just the drip coffee you get at any supermarket.
Kalevala jewlery or atleast my own gf appreciated it.
Iitala, Marimekko!
Marimekko, maybe? Fazer’s chocolate is good. Salmiakki might be a more exotic gift.
Since you’re getting gift ideas here’s a restaurant: Konstan Möljä. Buffet place, basically has every single Finnish dish you could ever want (or not want) to try. You might have to call and make a reservation, but it’s a relaxed and nice place. There are of course other (better and/or pricier) options for Finnish fare but this place is really good.
If you’re not interested in Finnish food in particular, lemme know what you do like and I can probably provide a suggestion.
For a really simple/silly gift: buy a Finland shot glass or two from any shitty souvenir shop, buy a bag of Turkish peppers (it’s a candy; get the original flavor). When you get home dissolve the entire bag of Turkish peppers into a half liter of vodka – it’ll take a day or so max to fully dissolve, shaking it occasionally. Nice bit about this is that you don’t even have to buy the vodka here, although if you want to, you can buy Koskenkorva for the most authentic experience. Make your wife/friend/whoever “earn” their shot glass gift by taking a shot of the new-and-improved flavored vodka. Maybe instead of demanding an immediate divorce she’ll even really like it, in which case you should have an extra bag or two of Turkish peppers to make more.
Martiini kitchen knives, there is a Shop near the white church
Keltainen Ruusu might have some fun gifts 👀
If you want to have nice fancy dinner go to Kappeli restaurant on the Esplanad, it is in the center of the Helsinki. It opened in 1968 and had hosted many famous finnish people such as L.Onerva, Eino Leino and Jean Sibelius. It has great atmosphere and art. Kappeli also has its own cafeteria and bar. Everything is a bit more expensive there, but the service and the food are excellent. It has many traditional finnish dishes, such as salmon soup and reindeer. If you are more than 2 table reservation is recomended. Restaurant is full every day.
One of my relatives just returned with four (!!!) Boxes of chocolate that I can’t eat but man that shit is the absolute best.
I always try to bring something that is kind of unique to the country, like Salmiak products or things like handmade soaps with blueberry, birch or flowers.
