I feel you man, sometimes better to just dont watch it for some time bc it really does turn you into a depressed doomer.
r/worldnews is also a lot of fun.
Try to open it less and less. Worked for me. Feeling a lot less stress lately. I still read it, but not on a daily basis.
Somebody is criticizing the 24hour news cycle, quick! More quick bait articles about the war, the environment and you wouldn’t believe what this little pug can do with a waterbaloon
Try to limit your news intake a bit. Deconnect from social media whose algorithms push ‘engaging’ content’. Join a group around one of the issues you’re concerned about to find hope and comradeship.
What is that fifth one? The tiger chair?
I really like to look up local news from time to time, since there are much more positive messages to be found there. Global news is often too much aimed at getting views and discussion, which often is or will be negative.
The problem started when they introduced algorithms to rank content. The most popular content rises to the top and we are naturally more likely to click on negative titles and read negative articles.
Since the algorithm pushes popular content to the top, we are even more likely to click on them. Then, during a meeting, they start looking at the numbers…
Dude, I’ve been making an effort lately (since a few months ago) to really stop checking the news websites everyday, because they just make you sad. I feel like newspapers (especially the web versions) are just banking on people doom scrolling and fishing for sad news. It’s hard because by now checking the news is a deeply set habit of mine, but I’m making progress.
I realized that the news is not going to change my life, but reading a book or watching a movie or going to a museum or for a walk with my gf or calling my sister is definitely going to make me enjoy my short time on this planet worthwhile.
Also everytime I read the news, I end up thinking to myself: Did I really need to know about tragedy xxx? How did this knowledge benefit me? And in most cases, it doesn’t. And news also causes me stress, which I’m trying to avoid.

Anyway, that’s just my point of view.
