Sir Frederick Barclay transferred fortune to avoid paying tax, ex-wife tells court

  1. That tax could and should have paid for schools, hospitals, social care etc etc. The very rich DO NOT CARE about the wellbeing of others.

Its always about tax. When politicians talk about tax cuts, they mean service cuts for ordinary people, and tax cuts for the rich.

  2. “Lawyers for Sir Frederick told the court that he cannot pay the £100m, nor the legal fees now amounting to almost half a million owed to his ex-wife’s lawyers, because of a lack of “liquidity” in his assets. Earlier this year he was evicted from his £25m townhouse in St James’s in central London, which boasted its own ballroom”

Jesus. He couldn’t have just paid his taxes, like the law demands, and enjoyed the liquidity and his freedom?
