My respect for Lithuania grows. Hopefully the EU won’t intervene again on Russia’s side
Can’t Lithuania just raise the price for the particular railway that goes to Kaliningrad?
What’s the problem? Just stop building war ships, and build some cargo ships instead. There’s a harbor in the middle of Kaliningrad FFS.
EDIT: Or even better, demilitarize Kaliningrad, and Lithuania might reconsider in return?
Isn’t the railway leading to Kaliningrad in a dire need of renovation?
Lithuania is a sovereign state and has all the rights to block Russian transit
“…the EU’s executive body issued new guidance in July, saying that Lithuania had to allow the movement of sanctioned goods by rail.”
That’s actually not true. The commission’s advice in July was that it was up to member states to interpret sanctions. They said Lithuania CAN allow transit of goods, not that they MUST.
