I had this at a milk bar in Gdańsk and have no idea what it is. It seemed like some kind of (curried?) chicken stew in a latke-like, potatoey flatbread. Would anybody be able to tell me what the dish is called? It was great.

  1. Placek po Węgiersku / Placek Zbójnicki

Basically stew with a potato pancake. I also love it.

  2. Placek Zbójnicki = Beef stew (Gulasz) wrapped in a potato pancake.

One of my favorites in Poland

  3. Damn i want one now. Last time i had one near Łódź it was a .5kg portion, and it was amazing. Also no sour cream with it?

  4. Hashbrown with stew and brussel sprouts.
Most probably “placek po zbójnicku ”
Stew is made either from beef or pork (sometimes chicken or turkey…) with Bell peppers

  5. It’s placek po węgiersku, potatoe pancake with stew, I want one. I need one. Mom?

  6. Because it was in Gdańsk, it was most probably called “Placek po Kaszubsku”. It pretty much means “Potato Pancake made in Kashubian version”. This dish usually is a little bit different called in every part in Poland. But whatever the name, it’s always amazing

  7. If you visited Kmar in Gdańsk Żabianka, you ate “Placek po cygańsku” (Gypsy’s pie) which is a big potato pancake (like hash browns) filled with chicken stew.

  8. The potato pancake and gravy appears to be fine but dear lord, those brussels sprouts look ghastly.

  9. It’s one of the best things you’ll eat. “Hungarian Style Pancake”.
