Project to build 1.4 GW high-voltage cable linking Germany with the UK moves forward

  1. The bigger the grid the more stable it is. Can’t help think the cost is a bit steep though – we connected to Norway for half of that. I guess the Germans are desperate.

Germany has stopped building offshore wind currently because their grid doesn’t have capacity to move any additional power from their section of the North sea to their industrial cities further south. This cable will give extra capacity to do something the power from offshore wind, so it’s pretty great for them.

  3. Home office has confirmed that power coming in from Germany has to be charged onto batteries and flown to Rwanda for processing first.

  4. 90% of which will be flogging the German’s electricity to keep our bills lower I assume, rather than us importing their electricity made with Russian gas and filthy lignite (like coal, but worse for those unfamiliar)?
