Poland is farther north and the Baltic Sea acts as a moderating effect on the climate near the coast (warning in the winter and cooling in the summer). Serbia is farther south and inland. This doesn’t tell the whole story though, because Serbia has higher elevation, which actually pushes down temperature somewhat. If we compare the median monthly temperature between the two countries capital cities, Warsaw is on average about 2° C warmer in the summer than Belgrade is. Belgrade has about 6° C higher maximum recorded temperatures, though.
